Vermouth was invented in Turin at the end of the 18th century and became fashionable thanks to the aristocratic House of Savoy. The number of different Vermouth recipes soon exploded. The Verney Vermouth delle Alpi is produced according to a recipe rediscovered in 1913 and attributed to Abbot Edouard Berard, a botanist from the Aosta Valley. The name comes from one of the largest lakes in the Aosta Valley at an altitude of 2000 meters. A rich alpine flora thrives on its shores. These include numerous mountain herbs such as savory, wormwood and alpine thyme, which give Vermouth Verney its character.
