Ouzo 7
A tradition with a protected designation of origin – since 1893
The Thrakis Distillery and Winery has deep roots in the region of Thrace, located in northeastern Greece, and is the region’s oldest brand. The secret family recipe for Ouzo 7 is based on the recipe created by Captain Spyros Mousouris in 1893. As a sailor, he was able to seek out the finest ingredients the country had to offer for his recipe, which is still distilled today. The aromatic ingredients used, such as anise, fennel, star anise, and mastic, give Ouzo 7 its unmistakable complexity and intense aroma. The distillate resulting from this unique combination of ingredients, with its balanced flavor and slight sweetness, makes Ouzo 7 unique and sets it apart from its competitors. The number seven in “Ouzo 7” represents the seven pioneers who, in 1977, shared a vision of uniting their efforts, which led to the creation of today’s Thrakis distillery. Since 2008, the designation “Ouzo from Thrace” has been a geographically protected indication throughout the EU.
